Men’s soccer team ties Bluffton, 2-2

BLUFFTON, Ohio – Freshman Braden Abbott scored a goal with just over a minute left, as the Olivet College men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against Bluffton (Ohio) University today at the Sears Complex in Bluffton, Ohio.

• The Comets put the first goal on the scoreboard in the fifth minute. After two shots by freshman Nick Cody were saved by the keeper, a third Olivet shot was deflected into the goal by a Bluffton defender.
• The Beavers leveled the score with a goal in the 22nd minute.
• Bluffton took a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 66th minute.
• With the clock winding down, freshman Kyle Buchan tapped the ball over to Abbott, who fired a low shot into the middle of net for his first collegiate goal.

• Olivet posted a slight 12-11 advantage in total shots.
• Abbott, Cody and freshman Aidan Reynolds each took two shots.
• Junior Carlos Santos was in goal for all 90 minutes and tallied four saves.

• Dalton Taynor and Elijah Zimmerman scored the Bluffton goals.
• Brycen Boyle was credited with an assist on both goals.
• Zimmerman recorded three shots.
• Angel Velasco-Urbina made six saves in between the pipes.

• Olivet hosts DePauw (Ind.) University Sunday for its home-opener at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Game time is 1 p.m.
