Senior Greg Petty scored the only goal, as the Olivet College men’s soccer team defeated Trine (Ind.) University, 1-0, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – Junior Gregory Petty scored the only goal, as the Olivet College men's soccer team defeated Trine (Ind.) University, 1-0, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
Petty found the back of the net in the 16th minute after receiving a pass from freshman Matthew Henderson. The Comets dominated the stat sheet in the first half, holding an 8-2 advantage in shots. The Thunder seized control in the second half, out-shooting Olivet, 12-3.
For the game, Trine had a 14-11 edge in shots. Petty led the way for the Comets with four shots, while senior Joey Sieg had three. Senior Ryan Grashik provided the clean sheet in goal, recording four saves.
The Comets will host Adrian College in their final home game of the season next Wednesday, Oct. 28. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
NOTES: Today's game was a breast cancer awareness event for the Olivet soccer teams. Between the games of the doubleheader, the Comets recognized Petty's mom, Donna, and sophomore Jordan Terry's mother, Diana, who are battling breast cancer.
