Men’s soccer: Comets fall to Hope, 4-2

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team was defeated by Hope College, 4-2, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
There was no scoring until the 38th minute when Brandon Underwood found the back of the net for the Flying Dutchmen. The Comets tied the game in the 19th minute of the second half. Freshman Joby Griggs passed the ball to sophomore Michael Brait who buried his shot into the goal.
Hope quickly answered a little more than four minutes later on Underwood's second goal of the game. The Flying Dutchmen added two more goals to take a 4-1 lead. Olivet got one goal back in the 88th minute when senior Zach Schulz scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season. He has also scored a goal in four of the last five games.
For the game, the Comets out-shot Hope, 19-12. Schulz, sophomore Gregory Petty and senior Jared Wilson-Santos were each credited with four shots. All four of Schultz's shots were placed on goal. Senior Alex Lang played the first half in goal and made three saves. Junior Ryan Grashik was the keeper for the final 45 minutes and made one save.
Olivet will rest tonight and then host Dominican (Ill.) University for a non-conference game tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
