Men's soccer team ties Tri-State, 2-2

Freshman Alan Holdorf (Novi High School) scored the first Fighting Comets (2-7-4, 0-6-1 MIAA) goal on a penalty kick in the 15th minute. The Thunder (0-12-1, 0-6-1 MIAA) tied the game with a goal just two minutes later. They took a 2-1 halftime lead with 2:29 left in the half.
Junior Ben Rau (Sparta High School) scored the game-tying goal for Olivet in the 58th minute off a pass from Holdorf. In the overtime periods, the Comets outshot the Thunder, 6-2.
For the game, Olivet held a 24-13 advantage in shots and 10-3 in corner kicks. Holdorf topped the team with six shots. Senior Frank Barretta (Macomb Lutheran North High School) was second with four shots, and Rau had three. In goal, freshman Michael Manning (Charlotte High School) played the entire game and made six saves.
The Comets are next in action Saturday, Oct. 16 when they travel to play Alma College at 1:30 p.m.
