Men's soccer team loses to Adrian, 2-1, in double overtime

The Fighting Comets (2-5-3, 0-4-0 MIAA) took a 1-0 lead with three minutes left in the first half when freshman Marcus Matthews (Buckley High School) headed the ball into the back of the net. Senior Frank Barretta (Macomb/Lutheran Northwest High School) earned the assist on the goal. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the Bulldogs (4-4-2, 2-2-0 MIAA) tied the game in the 68th minute. They scored the winning goal with 2:29 left in the second overtime period.
For the game, junior Gabe Pringle (Grand Blanc High School) came off the bench to record a team-best four shots. Four other Olivet players had two shots apiece. In goal, junior Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids High School) faced 23 shots and made 12 saves.
Olivet will travel for a pair of MIAA contests next week. On Wednesday, they play at Calvin College at 4 p.m., followed by a 1:30 p.m. contest Saturday, Oct. 9, at Albion College.
