Men’s soccer team defeats Manchester (Ind.), 4-3, in season opener
The Olivet College men’s soccer team defeated Manchester (Ind.), 4-3, this afternoon at the Manchester College Tournament. Freshman Alan Holdorf (Novi High School) led the Fighting Comets with two goals and an assist.

Olivet jumped out to a 2-0 lead with back-to-back goals in a span of just over two minutes. At the 38:03 mark, freshman Andrew Lansang (Rock Springs, Wyoming) scored the first goal off a cross pass by freshman Ryan Scott (Williamston High School). At the 40:08 mark, Holdorf scored with Pulido receiving credit for the assist. Fourteen seconds later, the Spartans cut the deficit to 2-1 with a header off a free kick.
Holdorf made the score 3-1 in the 48th minute off another cross by Pulido. After Manchester added a goal in the 49th minute, junior Gabe Pringle (Grand Blanc High School) found the back of the net on a pass by Holdorf at the 51:02 mark. The Spartans closed the scoring with a goal in the 54th minute.
In the game, Olivet outshot Manchester, 14-13. Holdorf had six shots. Junior goalkeeper Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids High School) played the entire game, making five saves.
The Comets will play Moody Bible (Ill.) Institute tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. EST.
