Men’s lacrosse team tripped up by Alma, 15-9
The Olivet College men’s lacrosse team closed out the home portion of its 2018 campaign with a 15-9 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Alma College tonight under the lights at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team closed out the home portion of its 2018 campaign with a 15-9 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Alma College tonight under the lights at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Cameron Bazin scored the first two goals of the game to put the Comets ahead 2-0 at the 8:23 mark of the opening quarter.
- The Scots responded with three goals in a 57-second span to take their first lead, 3-2.
- Bazin assisted on freshman Casey Petersen's goal to even the score 3-3 at the end of the first quarter.
- After Alma scored the first goal of the second quarter, the Comets tallied the next two goals – the first by Bazin and the second by senior Cullen Haesler – to take the lead back, 5-4.
- The Scots put the final four goals on the scoreboard in the second period to take an 8-5 halftime lead.
- Freshman Kobe Robinson had a pair of man-up goals sandwiched around an Alma goal to cut Olivet's deficit down to two points, 9-7, at the 9:34 mark of the third quarter.
- The Scots scored the next five goals, three to end the third stanza and two to start the fourth quarter, to double up the Comets, 14-7.
- Bazin netted two goals in a 21-second span to make the score 14-9.
- Alma scored the final goal of the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Bazin led Olivet with six points (five goals and one assist) to go along with 20 shots (nine on-goal).
- Petersen had a goal and two assists for three points.
- Freshman Connor Hamm caused a game-high four turnovers.
- In addition to his goal, Haesler notched a game-best eight ground balls, and caused three turnovers.
- Freshman Jake Steele had six saves while playing all 60 minutes in goal.
FOR THE SCOTS
- Chase Hunyadi had a team-high six points on three goals and three assists.
- Trevor Bailey finished with five points on three goals and two assists.
- David Buchy (two goals, one assist), Austin Irrer (three goals) and Jared Nycz (one goal and two assists) each had three points.
- Bailey topped the team with seven shots.
- Tommy Huckle won 10-of-13 face-offs and scooped-up seven ground balls.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With his six points, Bazin now has 201 career points in a Comet uniform. He is only the third player in school history to surpass the 200-point plateau. The all-time points scored record is 218 by Dakota Badder from 2013-16, and second is 209 by Nino Minaudo from 2014-17.
- Bazin's assist was his 53rd career helper, which is now tied for fourth all-time at Olivet.
