Men’s lacrosse team toppled by Alma, 17-7
The Olivet College men’s lacrosse team lost 17-7 to Alma College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest this evening at Bahlke Field in Alma.

ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team lost 17-7 to Alma College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest this evening at Bahlke Field in Alma.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Olivet won the opening face-off, and junior Logan Krieger scored 46 seconds later off a pass from freshman Jake Kovalcik.
- With 10:09 left in the first quarter, senior Nino Minaudo found the back of the cage off a feed from freshman Trevor Bailey.
- The Scots netted five straight goals, all by five different players, to end the first stanza with a 5-2 advantage.
- Both teams scored four goals in the second quarter to maintain the three-goal differential, 9-6, at halftime.
- Over the final 30 minutes of play, Alma out-scored the Comets, 8-1, including 5-1 in the third period.
FOR THE COMETS
- Minaudo paced Olivet with three goals on a team-best six shots, including four on-goal.
- Bailey, Krieger, and sophomores Bryce Drew and Zach Sanders each had one goal.
- Senior Tyler Polendo recorded a team-leading two assists.
- Drew, senior Charlie Haesler and junior Cullen Haesler topped the team with two caused turnovers apiece.
- Charlie Haesler led the way with four ground balls.
- Senior Drew Radners suffered the loss in the cage. He faced 66 shots and collected 16 saves.
FOR THE SCOTS
- Daniel Buchy scored a team-best seven points on five goals and two assists. He also took a game-high 18 shots.
- Jared Nycz was next with six points (two goals and team-leading four assists).
- Chase Hunyadi had five points (four goals and an assist).
- Tom Needham won 19-of-23 face-offs and was credited with a match-best six ground balls.
UP NEXT
- Olivet plays a 1 p.m. game Saturday at Adrian College. The Bulldogs fell to defending MIAA champion Albion College, 14-5, tonight at Docking Stadium in Adrian.
