Men’s lacrosse team ends non-conference schedule with 18-11 loss at SUNY-Geneseo
The Olivet College men’s lacrosse team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with an 18-11 loss to the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo today at College Stadium in Geneseo, New York.

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with an 18-11 loss to the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo today at College Stadium in Geneseo, New York.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights took an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals in the first two minutes and 14 seconds of the game.
- The Comets got on the scoreboard for the first time when senior Tyler Polendo scored off a feed from sophomore Zach Sanders with 6:12 left in the opening quarter.
- Geneseo scored twice in a 23-second span to take a 4-1 lead.
- Olivet answered with two goals, including the last one with one second remaining in the first quarter, to trail by one, 4-3, entering the second stanza.
- The Knights outscored the Comets, 8-2, in the second period to take a 12-5 at the intermission.
- The schools alternated goals in the third quarter to maintain the seven-goal differential, 15-8.
- Geneseo opened the final quarter on a 2-0 run to gain a 17-8 advantage.
- Senior Logan Krieger scored twice to cut Olivet's deficit down to seven points, 17-10.
- Both teams netted a goal in the last two minutes of the game to create the final score.
FOR THE COMETS
- Krieger finished with a game-high seven points on five and two goals, as well as eight shots.
- Freshman Trevor Bailey recorded five points on three goals and two assists.
- Senior Nino Minaudo had a game-high three assists.
- Other goals were scored by Polendo, senior Shane Prunty and sophomore Bryce Drew.
- In the cage, freshman Chase Keilitz allowed the four goals in the first quarter before freshman Robert Kehring took over for the final three quarters.
- Senior Charlie Haesler caused a team-leading five turnovers.
- Junior Cullen Haesler recorded a team-best seven ground balls.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Jack Ladd, Ryan Kelly, Dane Bentley, Luke Jordan and Kyle Wanamaker all scored two goals.
- Ladd also had two assists for a team-leading four points.
- Michael Yehl was the winning goalkeeper. He played 30 total minutes and collected three saves, while facing eight shots.
UP NEXT
- Olivet is off until Saturday, April 8, when it hosts Calvin College for its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener. The opening face-off at the Cutler Athletic Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m.
