Men’s lacrosse team steamrolls Adrian, 18-3
The Olivet College men’s lacrosse team outscored Adrian College, 11-0, in the second half to beat the Bulldogs, 18-3, this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The win is the first-ever in school history over Adrian.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team outscored Adrian College, 11-0, in the second half to beat the Bulldogs, 18-3, this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The win is the first-ever in program history over Adrian.
Senior Jack Ranson scored the first goal of the game to put the Comets ahead 1-0. The Bulldogs answered with a goal to level the score at 1-1. Olivet then scored five straight goals to end the period to surge ahead 6-1. Like the first quarter, Ranson scored the first goal of the second quarter to put the Comets up 7-1. Adrian scored the last two goals of the period to trail by a 7-3 score at halftime.
Olivet did not let up in the third quarter, scoring seven goals. Four of them came in a 91-second span in the middle part of the period. The Comets closed the scoring with four fourth-quarter tallies. The first was when Olivet was a man-down and the last was a man-up goal with 12 seconds left.
Junior Nino Minaudo led the Comets with eight total points on four goals and four assists. Senior Dakota Badder, junior Tyler Polendo and freshman Bryce Drew each recorded five points. Badder had three goals and two assists, Polendo had four goals and one assist, and Drew had a team-leading five assists. Junior Logan Krieger tallied four goals, while Ranson had two. The last goal was the first-ever collegiate goal by sophomore Cullen Haesler.
Badder and Minaudo finished with 12 and 11 shots, respectively. Senior Hunter Teare won 18-of-24 face-offs, and registered a game-high 11 ground balls. Senior Ryan McGee made 15 saves, while playing the whole game in the cage.
Olivet travels to play Kalamazoo College next Tuesday, April 19, at 7 p.m.
