Men's lacrosse team defeated by Albion, 15-5
The Olivet College men's lacrosse team lost 15-5 to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team lost 15-5 to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Britons scored the only goal of the first quarter with 2:12 left. They added another goal just one minute and one second into the second stanza. Freshman Dakota Badder (Troy/Athens) put Olivet's first goal on the scoreboard with a man-up tally at the 11:53 mark. Albion went on a 3-0 run to take a 5-1 lead. Freshman Jack Ranson (Nobleton, Ontario/St. Michael's) scored off a pass from freshman Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) with only 16 seconds left before halftime. The score stayed 5-2 at the break.
Albion put the game out of reach by out-scoring the Comets, 4-0, in the third quarter and 5-0 to start the final quarter. Badder scored off a pass from Bazin to make the score 14-3 with 7:11 left. The Britons added a goal before Olivet found the back of the net for the final two goals of the game.
For the game, the Comets out-shot Albion, 37-36. Bazin finished with one goal and three assists for four points. Badder scored twice, while Ranson and freshman James Collins (Lowell) each scored once. Bazin led the team with 10 shots and nine groundballs. In the net, sophomore Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) made 10 saves.
Olivet travels to play Alma College next Wednesday, April 10, at 4 p.m.
