Men’s lacrosse team stings Defiance, 14-3, for sixth straight win

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Freshman James Collins (Lowell) scored a game-high seven goals to lead the Olivet College men's lacrosse team to a 14-3 win over Defiance College today at the Justin F. Coressel Stadium in Defiance, Ohio.
Olivet dented the scoreboard for the first time 10 minutes into the game. That would be the only score in the first quarter. The Comets busted the game open in the second quarter, outscoring the Yellow Jackets to take a 7-0 at halftime.
Defiance got two goals to start the third quarter before Olivet responded with a 4-0 scoring spurt to take an 11-2 lead after three quarters of play. Collins scored three goals to one for the Jackets in the final stanza.
Freshman Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) added three goals and team-high four assists for seven points. Freshmen Matt Arb (Troy/Athens) and Joseph Brown (Bay City/Central) each had two goals. Arb also had three assists.
Freshman Jordan Stover (Clarkston) was successful on the face-offs, winning 13-of-21 attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) faced 28 shots and made nine saves.
Olivet are off until next Saturday, March 23, when they travel to play Beloit (Wis.) College at 4 p.m. EST/3 p.m. CT.
