JOHNSON, Vt. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team routed Johnson State (Vt.) College, 24-1, today in Johnson, Vt. With the win, the Comets improve their overall record to 3-1.
Freshman James Collins (Lowell) scored Olivet's first goal only 25 seconds into the first quarter on a man-up opportunity. The Comets added 10 more goals in the opening quarter and then four goals in the second quarter to take a 15-0 lead at halftime. Olivet scored four goals in the third quarter before the Badgers scored their first and only goal. The Comets put their final tally of the third quarter on the scoreboard with one minute left. Olivet scored four times in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Collins finished the game with eight goals and one assist for nine points. Freshman Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) had a team-high 10 points on seven goals and three assists. Freshman Dakota Badder (Troy/Athens) was next with five goals and three assists for eight points. Freshman Matt Arb (Troy/Athens) led the team with seven assists.
Freshman Jordan Stover (Clarkston) won 10-of-16 faceoffs. Sophomore Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) made 12 saves in net, while playing all 60 minutes.
The Comets will stay in Vermont and will play Green Mountain College Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m.
