Men’s lacrosse team selected seventh in MIAA preseason poll
The Olivet College men’s lacrosse team has been selected to finish seventh in the inaugural Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) preseason coaches’ poll. The 2013 season will be the first-ever season of men’s lacrosse at Olivet as well as first season the MIAA is sponsoring the sport.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team has been selected to finish seventh in the inaugural Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) preseason coaches' poll. The 2013 season will be the first-ever season of men's lacrosse at Olivet as well as first season the MIAA is sponsoring the sport.
Adrian College received six of seven first-place votes to be chosen as the preseason favorite. Albion was picked second, while Trine (Ind.) University was third and received the other first-place vote. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
POLL RESULTS: 1. Adrian 6 pts. (6), 2. Albion 13, 3. Trine (1) 16, 4. Hope 19, 5. Alma 28, 6. Calvin 30, 7. Olivet 35.
"I am looking forward to our first-ever season of men's lacrosse at Olivet," said interim Olivet Head Coach Adam Hague. "I have a great group of young men, who are working every day at practice to get better."
The first game in program history is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23, against Oberlin (Ohio) College. Game time at the Cutler Athletic Complex is 2 p.m. The Comets' first MIAA contest is Tuesday, April 2, against Trine.
