Julian receives MIAA Sportsmanship award for men's golf
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed tied for seventh-place at the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree played this afternoon at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids. With the finish, the Comets have finished eighth in the overall league standings.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Olivet College men's golf team placed tied for seventh-place at the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree played this afternoon at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids. With the finish, the Comets have finished eighth in the overall league standings. Senior Nick Julian has received the MIAA Sportsmanship award.
In today's round, the Comets and Albion College shared seventh-place with 331s. Hope College won its fifth jamboree of the season with a 313, which also allowed them to capture the 2013 MIAA Championship. Calvin College was one stroke behind at 314, followed by Adrian, 316; Trine, 317; Alma, 324; and Kalamazoo, 327.
Julian was Olivet's top finisher, as he tied for 16th with an 80, including a 37 on the front nine. Sophomore Benjamin Hart and freshman Matt Sherry each finished with an 82. Senior Chris Watkins carded an 87, while freshman Daniel Buehler had an 89.
Freshman Joseph Gauck played as an individual, and shot his best round of the fall season with a 79.
