Men’s golf team shoots season-best team score at MIAA Jamboree #2
The Olivet College men’s golf team shot a season-best 312 team score to finish in sixth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2 today, hosted by Adrian College and played at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team shot a season-best 312 team score to finish in sixth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2 today, hosted by Adrian College and played at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian.
The Comets' 312 was only one stroke behind fifth-place Kalamazoo. Calvin took first at 298, followed by Adrian, 301; Trine (Ind.), 303; and Hope, 308. Behind Olivet was Alma in seventh at 314 and Albion at 315. David Smith from Kalamazoo was the tournament medalist with a one-under-par 70.
Senior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Clintondale) tied for second in the player standings and paced the Comets with an even par 71, including three birdies. Freshman Daniel Buehler (Delton/Hastings) carded a 77. Sophomore Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) was next at 81. Freshman Matt Sherry (Salem Township/South Lyon East) finished two strokes behind at 83. Senior Chris Watkins (Bangor) rounded out Olivet's lineup with an 88.
The Comets will host the third league jamboree next Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek, starting at 1 p.m.
