Men's golf team finishes in sixth-place at MIAA Jamboree #7
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in sixth-place at the MIAA Jamboree #7. Todayââ¬â¢s outing was at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team finished in sixth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #7. Today's outing was at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.
The Comets carded a 320 team score. Hope took top honors with a 299, followed by Trine (Ind.), 310; Calvin, 311; Adrian, 313; and Kalamazoo, 319. Finishing behind Olivet were Alma, 323; and Albion, 330. Hope's Collin Breit was the medalist with an even par 72.
Senior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) tied Alma's Marty Predmesky for second-place in the player standings with one-over pars 73. Ardelean posted a 33 on the front nine, with a 40 on the back nine. Junior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) tied for 13th-place with a 78. Junior Martin Holdren (New Bremen, Ohio) and senior Cody Crites (Owosso) finished one stroke apart at 84 and 85, respectively. Freshman Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) had a 92.
Entering the final jamboree, Calvin holds a 15-stroke lead in the overall MIAA standings over Hope, 2,122-2,137. Trine slipped to third at 2,141. Adrian is a distant third at 2,161 strokes, followed by Alma (2,186); Albion (2,203); Olivet (2,207); and Kalamazoo (2,257). In the individual league leaders, Julian moves into a tie for second-place with 523 total strokes.
The last jamboree will be held next Tuesday, Oct. 9, at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
