Men’s golf team finishes in fourth-place at MIAA Playoff #1
The Olivet College men’s golf team finished in fourth-place at the first of three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff rounds. Today’s round was played at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College men's golf team finished in fourth-place at the first of three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff rounds. Today's round was played at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
The Comets had a 309 team score, which was 10 strokes behind third-place Trine (Ind.) University. Hope College took first-place with a 284, followed by Alma College at 291.
Olivet's four scorers were each separated by one stroke. Senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) led the way with a 76. Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) shot a 77. Sophomore Martin Holdren (New Bremen) and junior Nick Julian (Clint Township/Chippewa Valley) both had 78s. Junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) carded an 80.
The next two rounds of the playoff will be played next Thursday and Friday, April 19-20, on Hope's home course, Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive. The school with the lowest cumulative total will receive the MIAA's automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships.
Prior to competing at the playoff rounds, the Comets will compete at the Calvin Knight Invite next Monday, April 16, at the Pilgrims Run Golf Course in Pierson.
