Men’s golf team finishes in second-place at Spring Arbor Invitational
The Olivet College men’s golf team finished in second-place out of nine schools assembled today for the one-day, 36-hole Spring Arbor University Invitational at the Arbor Hills Country Club in Jackson.

The Comets carded a 613 team score with rounds of 311 and 302. The host Cougars also had a 311 in their first round, but went 15 strokes lower in the second round for a two-round total of 607 strokes. Madonna University was third at 628 (313-315), Aquinas College was fourth at 632 (313-319), and Hope College was fifth at 637 (322-315). Albion College and Trine University tied for sixth with 639s. Rochester College was eighth at 648, and Siena Heights University was last at 664.
Senior Eric Ross (Burlington, Ontario/International) topped Olivet with a two-round total of 150 (77-73). Sophomore Nick Harless (DeWitt) posted a 154 (80-74). Senior Brock Gleadall (Stratford, Ontario/St. Michaels Catholic) had a 155 (75-80). Seniors Justin Lesansky (LaSalle, Ontario/International) and junior Luke Godin (Barrie, Ontario/Innisdale Secondary) each shot a 158.
The Comets are now idle until Wednesday-Saturday, May 13-16 when they compete at the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships at the PGA Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. By virtue of winning the 2008 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship, Olivet received the league's automatic bid. All of the teams will play in the first two rounds, and then the field will be cut in half for the final two rounds
