ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Trine University, 91-79, this afternoon at the MTI Center in Angola, Indiana.

- In the first half, the Comets trailed by 10 points on two occasions. Following the final time at 19-9, Olivet went on a 14-3 run for a 23-22 advantage at the 6:38 mark. The teams traded baskets to create a 25-25 tie. The Thunder then went on an 8-2 run to take a 33-27 lead. The Comets cut their deficit in half before Trine scored the final three points of the half to go up 38-32 at the break.
- In the second half, Trine stretched its lead to as many as 22 points twice. In the final minute, the Comets were able to make it a 10-point game.
- Four Olivet players reached double figures in the scoring column.
- Junior Ryan Robinette tallied a team-high 16 points.
- Junior Derrick Johnson added 14 points.
- Sophomore Britton Angell and junior Dre Tuominen had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
- Junior Dane Vos grabbed seven rebounds.
- Nick Bowman led all scorers with 22 points.
- Brent Cox contributed 14 points.
- Three players pulled down six rebounds a piece.
- "We are a team that lacks experience together, so if we don't play at least as hard as our opponent, we'll have a very little chance to win," said Olivet head coach Sam Hargraves. "With our newness together, We're not very oiled yet with what we're trying to do. Trine played much harder than us today. For example, if we don't physically block out, we'll have no chance to win a game because that is something we can control for the most part. We have to rely on things we can control."
- The Comets return to action next Wednesday, Jan. 27, when they travel to play Adrian College at 8 p.m.
