Men’s basketball team downs Hope, 89-62
A balanced scoring attack led the Olivet College men’s basketball team to an 89-62 win over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Hope College this evening inside the Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Comets have now five straight games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets never trailed in the game. In the first half, the Flying Dutchmen trailed by only eight points, 23-15, at the midpoint. Over the next seven minutes of game, Olivet out-scored Hope 22-4 to extend its lead to 26 points, 45-19. The teams traded baskets to create a 47-23 score at the intermission.
- In the second half, the Comets stretched their lead to as many as 32 points, 81-49, with 3:36 left in the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- For the game, Olivet made 32-of-60 baskets (53.3 percent), including 11-of-27 (40.7 percent) from behind the arc. The Comets also committed only four turnovers compared to 17 miscues for Hope.
- All five starters reached double digits in the scoring column.
- Junior Trevor Manuel led the way with 17 points. He also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
- Senior Tracy Edmond scored 17 points and recorded eight assists.
- Senior John McAdoo netted 12 points and made four steals.
- Seniors Colin Jones and Dee Roberts each had 11 points.
FOR THE FLYING DUTCHMEN
- Teddy Ray posted a double-double, 12 points and 13 rebounds.
- Tyler George also had 12 points off the bench.
- Dennis Towns added 11 points.
- Riley Lewis scored nine points and had four assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Olivet's four turnovers were a season-low. The previous low was seven in the win against Thomas More (Ky.) University.
- The 11 three-pointers matches a single-game high for this season.
- The 27-point margin of victory is the second-highest ever in school history in a win against Hope. The only larger margin of victory was 37 points, 102-65, on Jan. 9, 1971.
