ELMHURST, Ill. – The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Elmhurst College, 87-71, in a non-conference game this evening at R.A. Faganel Hall in Elmhurst, Illinois.

- The first half was a game of runs for both teams. The Bluejays raced out to an 11-0 lead. The Comets answered with a 19-3 run to go ahead 19-14 at the 10:16 mark. Elmhurst made back-to-back three-pointers to take the lead back. Olivet countered with an old-fashioned three-point play for a 22-20 lead. Nine straight points for the Bluejays put them ahead by seven points with 6:24 left before halftime.
- Elmhurst extended its lead to nine points, 33-24. The Comets came back to make it a two-point game on two occasions, with the last time being 36-34. The Bluejays took a four-point advantage, 41-37, into the locker room at halftime.
- Early in the second half, Olivet tied the game twice. After the last time at 48-48, Elmhurst went on a 13-3 run for a 61-51 lead. The Comets closed the gap to five points, 65-60. An 8-0 run for the Bluejays gave them a 73-60 lead. Olivet would get no closer than nine points for the rest of the game. Elmhurst's 16-point margin of victory was its largest lead.
- For the game, Olivet shot 45.6 percent (26-of-57) from the floor, with 10 three-pointers.
- Senior Dee Roberts led the way with 18 points.
- Junior Trevor Manuel had 16 points.
- Senior Tracy Edmond contributed 12 points, six rebounds and six assists.
- Senior John McAdoo also grabbed six rebounds.
- Elmhurst finished the game with a 52.8 field goal percentage, including 50.0 percent (13-of-26) from behind the three-point arc.
- Jake Rhode scored a game-high 37 points, including 19 in the second half. He drained six triples and 11-of-14 free throws.
- Derek Dotlich was next with 12 points.
- Dotlich and Jeremy Ireland pulled down nine rebounds apiece.
- The Comets are idle until Saturday, Dec. 29, when they travel to play University of Findlay (Ohio) at 3 p.m.
