Adams adds All-American honors from DIII News to his list of accolades
Olivet College senior Jalen Adams has been honored as a Third Team All-American by DIII News. This honor joins his All-American second-team honors last week from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Jalen Adams has been honored as a Third Team All-American by DIII News. This honor joins his All-American second-team honors last week from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com.
In addition to these three awards, Adams was named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region First Team and NABC All-Great Lakes Region First Team. He was also selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Most Valuable Player and All-MIAA First Team.
Adams broke Olivet's single-season scoring record with 707 points. He is the only men's or women's basketball player in school history to surpass the 700-point plateau for a season. The next closest men's player was Michael McClary who scored 676 points during the 2010-11 season, and Stefanie Lang holds the single-season women's scoring record with 526 points in 2013-14.
With the 2017-18 season complete, Adams ranked among the NCAA Division III leaders in field goals attempted (second, 541); total points (sixth, 707 points); field goals made (fourth, 266), scoring (seventh, 26.2 ppg); double-doubles (11th, 16); free throws made (15th, 153) and total rebounds (16th, 288).
Adams and McClary are the only men's basketball players in school history to be selected to the DIII News All-American teams. McClary was a first-team selection in 2011.
