MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Olivet College senior Jalen Adams has been named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware.com. This award is presented weekly to the top five men's and women's basketball players from the previous week. Joining Adams on the team are junior guard Deshawn Cann from SUNY-Purchase, sophomore guard Nate Schimonitz from Nebraska Wesleyan University, sophomore forward Gabriel Leifer from Yeshiva (N.Y.) College and junior forward Myles Copeland from Trine (Ind.) University.
Adams averaged a double-double, 29.5 points and 16 rebounds, in leading the men's basketball team to a pair of home wins last week. The wins help the Comets maintain first-place in the MIAA standings and set-up a showdown with co-leader Hope College tomorrow night. Adams scored 25 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in an 81-75 win over Alma College. He then had his 14th double-double of the season with 34 points and 17 rebounds in an 81-78 overtime victory against Adrian College. For the week, he made 22-of-51 baskets (43.1 percent) and 14-of-21 free throws (66.7 percent).
This season, Adams ranks fifth among all NCAA Division III players in scoring at 26.4 points per game, third in total points with 607 and 26th in rebounding at 10.3 rebounds per game. His 14 double-doubles are tied for the 10th-most. He needs 70 points to break Olivet's single-season scoring record.
