Men’s basketball team falls short against Kalamazoo, 63-57

Five minutes into the game, Olivet led by 10 points, 14-4. The Comets continued to lead until the 4:48 mark when Ryan Clark put the Hornets ahead 23-21 on a three-pointer. After Olivet tied the game at 23-23, Kalamazoo ended the half on a 11-4 run to take a 34-27 lead at the break. The Comets closed to within four points on three occasions in the second half but they would not get any closer.
In addition to Jennings, junior Michael McClary (Bellaire) scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his 10th double-double this season and the 31st of his career. Senior Andy Clark (Lansing/Perry) came off the bench to score 10 points.
Joe Prepolec led Kalamazoo with 16 points, while Ryan Clark added 15 and team-high seven rebounds.
Olivet will begin the second half of its MIAA schedule Saturday when it travels to play Albion College. Tip-off inside Kresge Gymnasium is 3 p.m.
