McClary’s career-high 37 points leads men’s basketball team to 91-73 rout at Trine
Junior Michael McClary (Bellaire) scored a career-high 37 points to lead the Olivet College men’s basketball team to a 91-73 rout against Trine (Ind.) University tonight at Hershey Hall in Angola, Ind. In addition, McClary had 13 rebounds for his 14th double-double this season, including fifth straight.

McClary scored 18 of the first 24 points of the game for the Comets, as they built a 24-13 lead with 10:24 left before halftime. Olivet extended its lead to 12 points twice. The Thunder battled back and trimmed their deficit down to three points on two occasions with the last time being 37-34. The Comets scored the final six points of the half to take a 43-34 lead at the intermission. Olivet led the entire second half, stretching its lead to as many as 21 points in the final two minutes of the game.
McClary drained 17-of-24 baskets and 3-of-3 free throws for his 37 points. Five of his rebounds were on the offensive glass. Four other Comets joined him in double figures. Senior Joel Kerns (North Judson, Ind./San Pierre) scored a season-high 14 points. Junior Nathan Jennings (Grant) added 13 points, and junior Andre Evans (Muskegon/Heights) and senior Bryan Dutton (Jackson/Napoleon) finished with 11 and 10 respectively. Junior Joe Post (Olivet) dished out a game-high six assists. Evans had three assists and thee steals.
Trine was led by Scott Rogers with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Olivet returns home to face Adrian College Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
