McClary earns D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region first-team honors
Olivet College junior center Michael McClary (Bellaire) has been named to the 2010 D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region first-team for men’s basketball. Players for this award were nominated and voted by sports information directors in the region.
Olivet College junior center Michael McClary (Bellaire) has been named to the 2010 D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region first-team for men's basketball. Players for this award were nominated and voted by sports information directors in the region. McClary is now eligible for D3hoops.com All-American honors.
McClary, a three-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection, led the Comets and league in scoring (19.8 ppg) and rebounding (11.0 rpg). He also broke Olivet's single-season record for field goals made (222) and field goals attempted (430), and narrowly missed breaking the scoring record with 534 points. For the season, McClary posted 17 double-doubles, including 13 games with more than 20 points. For his efforts, he was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player.
McClary will enter his senior season with 1,158 points, which ranks seventh all-time at Olivet. He also has 774 career rebounds and is the Comets' all-time blocks leader with 127.
The other members of the first-team All-Great Lakes Region team are guard Ian Franks from College of Wooster (Ohio), guard Peter Bunn from Hope College, forward Kyle Meyer from Ohio Northern University and forward Rudy Kirbus from John Carroll (Ohio) University. Franks was selected as the region's Player of the Year.
