Men’s basketball team defeats Andrews, 83-52, in home-opener
The Olivet College men’s basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to beat Andrews University, 83-52, tonight in its home-opener at the Upton Center in Olivet. Freshman Michael McClary (Bellaire) led the Comets with a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Freshman Michael McClary (Bellaire) led the Comets with a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Jeff Cooper (Dowagiac) contributed 10 points. Sophomore Joel Kerns (North Judson, Ind.) and senior Brandon Way (Detroit/Southwestern) each scored eight points.
Senior John Zenner (Kingsley) added seven points. Sophomores Blake Brannick (Jackson/Lumen Christi) and Lamar Johnson (Taylor/Truman) along with junior Brandon McClary (Bellaire) had six points a piece.
In the first half, the Comets shot 58.3 percent from the floor, as they built a 24-point lead, 47-23, at halftime. The final 31-point margin of victory was Olivet's largest lead of the game.
Michael McClary made eight-of-10 baskets and one free throw for his 17 points. Six of his 13 rebounds were off the offensive glass. Cooper was four-of-nine, including two-of-four from behind the arc. Brandon McClary chipped-in with six rebounds, as the Comets out-rebounded the Cardinals, 55-32.
Terrance Millen led Andrews with 16 points. Off the bench, Thomas Jardine finished with nine points. Sean Thorne pulled down seven rebounds.
Olivet returns to action Tuesday, Nov. 20, when it travels to Midland for a non-conference game against Northwood University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
