Olivet College’s Black named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for football
Olivet College sophomore quarterback Braden Black (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week for football.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore quarterback Braden Black (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week for football. He is being honored for the first time in his career.
Black broke three single-game school records in the Comets' 47-41 overtime loss to Trine (Ind.) University Nov. 9 at the Cutler Athletic Complex. He completed a school-record 32 passes on 44 attempts for 396 yards, another single-game record and three touchdowns. He also set a single-game record with 420 yards of total offense. Black is also now the single-season record holder for total offense (2,445 yards), passing yards (2,105) and touchdown passes (17). He also six pass completions and 32 pass attempts shy of breaking the single-season marks.
Black and the Comets close out the 2013 season Saturday when they host Kalamazoo College at 1 p.m.
