FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Olivet College baseball team lost 8-4 to Thiel (Pa.) College in its third game at the Gene Cusic Classic and inside the Player Development Complex in Fort Myers, Florida.

- The Tomcats scored at least one in five of the first six innings to take an 8-0 lead.
- The Comets pushed across two runs in the seventh inning and one in each the eighth and ninth innings.
- Despite the loss, Olivet totaled 14 hits, with eight of nine starters recording at least one hit.
- Freshman James Harris went 3-for-5.
- Four other players – junior John Kortz, seniors Riley Bennett, Aaron Gillespie and Brandan Settles had two hits apiece.
- Senior Zac Walter suffered the pitching loss. He gave up eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits over five innings.
- Senior Matt Rehfeldt threw three scoreless innings of relief.
- Anthony Sebastian had three of the 14 Thiel hits.
- Four players each recorded two hits.
- Matt Gayda was the winning pitcher. He gave up three runs on 12 hits over the first eight innings.
- Myles Metz pitched the ninth inning and yielded the one run on two hits.
- The Comets wrap-up their stay in Fort Myers tomorrow with a doubleheader against Wisconsin Lutheran College. First pitch at Terry Park is 12 p.m.
