Baseball team opens MIAA play with two losses at Albion
The Olivet College baseball team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) with two losses to Albion College this afternoon at Frank Joranko Field in Albion. The Comets lost the games by scores of 7-6 and 13-10.

ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) with two losses to Albion College this afternoon at Frank Joranko Field in Albion. The Comets lost the games by scores of 7-6 and 13-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)
- The Comets scored one run in the second and third innings. The Britons plated three runs in the fourth inning and two more runs in the sixth inning to go up 5-2.
- Olivet took a 6-5 lead with four runs in the top half of the seventh inning. In the home half of the inning, two Albion players were hit by a pitch and both came around to score after a pair of two-out hits drove them in.
FOR THE COMETS
- Sophomore Aaron Gillespie and senior Aiden Holliday were each 2-for-4 with two RBI.
- Freshman Logan Sella also had two hits out of the leadoff spot in the lineup.
- Freshman Ben Compton hit two doubles in three plate appearances.
- Gillespie started on the mound and threw the first six innings. He gave up five runs (four earned) on five hits.
- Senior Joseph Crosby was charged with the loss after allowing the seventh-inning runs.
FOR THE BRITONS
- Jordyn Finney and Kellan Huang had two hits apiece.
- Andrew Arszulowicz drove in three runs.
- Jack Wyman was the starting pitcher and surrendered all six runs on 11 hits over six and two-thirds innings.
- Jon Hubanks recorded the final out to pick-up the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO)
- The Britons pushed across five runs in the bottom half of the second inning. The Comets answered with three runs in the top half of the third inning.
- Albion stretched its lead to 11-3 with one run in the third, three in the fourth, and one run in both the sixth and seventh innings.
- Olivet made the score 11-10 by sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs in the eighth inning. The Comets had the bases loaded with one out but two strikeouts ended their threat.
- The Britons plated two runs in the home of the eighth. Olivet brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning before a double play concluded the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- At the plate, freshman Junior Gomez went 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBI. Two of his hits were doubles.
- Junior Dugan Dieselberg finished with three hits and three RBI.
- Compton also had three hits.
- Sophomore Zac Walter was the losing pitcher. He lasted only the first three innings after surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits.
- Three relievers combined to throw the final five innings.
FOR THE BRITONS
- Six players had multi-hit games.
- Arszulowicz, Huang and Riley Stesiak each collected three hits.
- Arszulowicz tallied three RBI.
- Scott Grant was the winning pitcher after throwing seven innings and giving up five runs on 11 hits. He struck out six and walked one.

- The teams complete the four-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. First pitch from game one is slated for 1 p.m.
