The baseball team fell to Thiel (Pa.) College, 9-7, this afternoon at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.
The Fighting Comets rallied from a 6-1 deficit to take a 7-6 lead in the top of the seventh inning. The Tomcats answered with to runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning and added an insurance run in the eighth inning.
Juniors Stan Cieslak (Troy/Avondale) and James Melvin (Redford Thurston) each hit a double for Olivet. Melvin's double scored two runs. Sophomore Nick McIntosh (Petoskey) also collected two RBI on a triple. Junior Chip Paddock (Galesburg/Augusta) had three RBI.
The Comets wrap-up their Spring Break trip with two nine-inning games tomorrow. At 9 a.m., they will play Hiram (Ohio) College, followed by a noon game versus Bluffton (Ohio) College.
