Men’s bowling team wins West Michigan Laker Invitational, women finish in fifth-place
The Olivet College men’s bowling team won the team title at the 2018 West Michigan Laker Invitational, hosted by Grand Valley State University and held Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Fairlanes Bowling Center in Grandville. The Comet women placed fifth.

GRANDVILLE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's bowling team won the team title at the 2018 West Michigan Laker Invitational, hosted by Grand Valley State University and held Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Fairlanes Bowling Center in Grandville. The Comet women placed fifth.
Final Result: Men-1st of 8 varsity teams; Women-5th of 8 varsity teams
Location: Fairlanes Bowling Center; Grandville, Mich.
- The tournament consisted of five team games and three baker games.
- The Comet men finished with a team score of 4,632 pins and a baker total of 2,263 pins for a team total of 6,895 pins. That total was just 79 pins more than runner-up Rochester College.
- The Comet women had a team score of 3,606 pins and a baker total of 1,637 pins for a team total of 5,243 pins.
- Sophomore Tyler Kolassa landed a spot on the all-tournament team with a second-place finish. He totaled 1,042 pins in his five games. His high game was a 257 pins.
- Sophomore Zaquary Strohmeyer also made the all-tournament with a fifth-place performance. He had a 963 total, with a 222 as his high game.
- Junior Brianna Curtis had the best finish, as she placed 24th. She totaled 771 pins over the five games, and her high game was 191 pins.
- Junior Emma Schut was 25th with a 766 total and high game of 189 pins.
