Hinds and Kolassa lead bowling teams to fourth-place finish at Toledo Classic
Senior Loretta Hinds and freshman Tyler Kolassa led the Olivet College men’s and women’s bowling teams to fourth-place finishes at the University of Toledo Classic, held inside the New Glass Bowl Lanes in Toledo, Ohio.
TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior Loretta Hinds and freshman Tyler Kolassa led the Olivet College men's and women's bowling teams to fourth-place finishes at the University of Toledo Classic, held inside the New Glass Bowl Lanes in Toledo, Ohio. The tournament consisted of four individual games and 16 baker games.
The Comet women were fourth of 10 schools with a team total of 5,569 pins. Hinds earned all-tournament honors after placing fifth of 66 bowlers with a 747 pin total. Her high game was a 210. Sophomore Brianna Curtis was 17th with a 628 total, and freshman Alyssa Crampton was right behind her in 18th at 616. Sophomore Amanda Briggs was next at 574, followed by junior Amanda Igl at 535.
The Olivet men totaled 6,922 pins to finish fourth of 13 schools. Kolassa was selected to the all-tournament team after placing fifth of 105 bowlers with 831 total pins, with a high game of 234 pins. Freshman Zaquary Strohmeyer finished 19th with a total of 745 pins, while freshman Dennis Crump was 31st with a total of 726 pins. Freshman Cody Van Gordon averaged 173 pins in three games.
The highlight of the tournament was the third baker game when the Comet men totaled 279 pins, which was one spare shy of a perfect 300 game. A baker game is when the five bowlers alternate frames, with the first bowler bowling frames one and six, the second bowler bowling frames two and seven and so on, with the fifth bowler bowling frames five and 10.
