Olivet College places 157 student-athletes on 2020-21 MIAA Academic Honor Roll

FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College has placed 157 student-athletes on the 2020-21 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Academic Honor Roll.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, any student-athlete who was an active member of his/her team and maintained a 3.50 or higher grade point average (GPA) for the entire academic year was named to the honor roll. 

The award is administered by the faculty athletic representatives at each member school in the MIAA. Olivet's faculty representative is Samantha Myers, assistant professor of interdisciplinary studies.

Below is a complete listing of Olivet student-athletes who earned the honor. The asterisk symbol denotes the number of years each student-athlete has been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

OLIVET NOTES:

• Olivet succeeded the 100 plateau for the eighth time in school history. This year's 157 honorees are the second-most in school history for an academic year. The record is 171 set during the 2019-20 academic year.
• Six-of-seven women's tennis players, and six-of-eight women's golfers were named to the honor roll.
• Ten-of-13 women's cross country runners landed on the honor roll.
• The women's volleyball team had 13-of-19 players on the season-ending roster selected to the honor roll.
• The women's soccer team had 17-of-23 players on the honor roll.
• The class breakdown of the honorees is 40 freshmen, 41 sophomores, 43 juniors and 33 seniors.
• Fifteen (15) student-athletes – Ben Compton, Jaden Costa, Dean Failer, Miranda Gale, Patrick Gault, Brooklyn Holley, Keanalanimelo'kekai Kunz, Audrey Lama, Cameron Lemon, Crystal Lettinga, Mia Parker, Paige Poulter, Logan Sella, Chelsie Smith and Kassidy Zmikly – are now four-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipients.
• Of the 157 selections, 64 were selected to the honor for the first time.
• Twenty-nine (25) of the student-athletes maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA for the entire academic year.
• Ninety-eight (98) student-athletes finished with a 3.75 or higher GPA.
• The average GPA for the 157 student-athletes on the honor roll is 3.8027.
• Fifteen (15) student-athletes – Lillian Albaugh, Ben Compton, David Curl, Hayden Germain, Owen Guilford, Desiree Luque Pradas, Cameron Mahlich, Jennifer Mann, Hunter Murphy, Denver Orlando, Tyler Peck, Takato Timmerman, Reese Wallis, Dominick Wilson and Seth Young ­– earned All-MIAA honors in their respective sport this academic year. One of those 15, Hunter Murphy, was the MIAA's Most Valuable Player in his sport (wrestling).
• Five of the seniors – Clothier, Kaleb Jarrett, Kunz, Luque Pradas and Tyler Peck – have finished their athletic career ranked in the top 10 of at least one statistical category in their respective sport.
• Chelsie Smith was Olivet's nominee for the MIAA Sheila Wallace-Kovalchik award for being the top senior female student-athlete and Tyler Peck was Olivet's nominee for the MIAA Al Deal award for being the top senior male student-athlete. Smith was also one of seven students to receive the Olivet College Donald A. Morris Academic Excellence Award for being among the top graduates.
