Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - April 29, 2024
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is senior Gabriel Kirck, of Grosse Pointe Woods, and graduate of De La Salle High School. Kirck posted a .538 batting average in Olivet’s three-game baseball series against Kalamazoo College. His seven hits included two home runs for a 1.000 slugging percentage, as well as he walked twice for a .600 on-base percentage. Kirck drove in seven runs and scored four runs. With the two home runs and seven RBI, he tied the Comet career record in those two categories. Defensively, Kirck did not commit an error in 27 chances at first base.
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is the women’s 4x100-meter relay team of junior London Eldridge, of Stanton, and graduate of Central Montcalm High School; freshman Aubrey Connelly, of Grant Township, and graduate of Crosswell-Lexington High School; senior Lily Connelly, of Grant Township, and graduate of Crosswell-Lexington High School; and senior Tonya Tepin, of Cedar Springs, and graduate of Cedar Springs High School. At the Concordia University-Ann Arbor “Legacy” Meet, the quartet achieved a school record with a winning time of 4 minutes and 8.88 seconds. They broke the school record by seven-hundredths of a second (.07).
