You were a member of the football and track and field teams at
Olivet, earning four varsity letters in football and three in track
and field.
As a member of the football team in 1961, you served as a
co-captain and the Comets finished the season with an 8-1 record.
For your efforts, you earned first-team All-MIAA honors and were
named to the AP All-Star Team.
As a member of the track and field team, you participated in the
shot put, discus and javelin throws. In 1959, you were selected as
the team’s most valuable.
Off the athletic field, you were a member of the Kappa Sigma Alpha
fraternity, Debate Club, Comet Council, Intersociety Council, Radio
Club and Monogram Club. You also received a presidential citation
for your work as the May Festival chair.
In addition to your bachelor’s degree from Olivet, you have
a master’s degree from Syracuse University and doctorate from
Wayne State University.
Prior to your retirement in 1994, you taught and coached at
various schools in the state of Michigan. For more than 40 years,
you have been an active member and volunteer for numerous
organizations in Michigan and Washington.
Olivet honors you and is proud to induct you into the Olivet
College Athletic Hall of Fame on this 13th day of September,
2008.
